Objective Through the introduction of BIM technology development, industry trends and applications, students will in-depth understanding of BIM and learn about local needs. At the same time, through the training of BIM modeling skills, including read the drawing, software operation and skills and modeling tools. Students will be familiar with the fundamentals of modeling and have the appropriate technical level to meet the basic needs of the industry. In addition, the course will prepare students for relevant skill level exam and arrange for them to participate the exam, so that students can obtain the relevant skill levels to meet the basic requirements for working related industries in China.

  • BIM technology outline, status and examples introduction, overview of the generation of BIM to the whole life cycle of BIM application and value
  • Interpretation of BIM design related policies, standards and applications
Hands-on training of BIM
  • Introduction to the roles in BIM application
  • BIM execution plan
  • Reading Drawings
  • Introduction to Revit software
  • Engineering drawing and BIM modeling environment setup
  • Revit terminology, interface, and basic operations
  • Attribute and parametric modeling, attribute definition and editing
  • Creating components
  • Drawing basic building models
  • Draw architectural models (columns/walls/doors/windows/floors/ceilings/roofs...)
  • Model information annotation
  • Model checking, such as amount of information, annotation, collision, etc
  • Model file management, such as detailing, creating drawings, views, etc
  • Mock Exam
Assessment At least 80% attendance and complete all in-class exercises and assessments.

Instructor The tutors hold the Certificate of BIM Skill Proficiency Test Level II from China Graphics Society, they are from Institute for the Development and Quality, Macau and the University of Macau, with a Ph.D. and senior engineer qualifications. They have many years of experience in academic teaching and engineering training, with expertise in teaching AutoCAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM), which including the application of Revit and Navisworks.
