Objective Using spreadsheets we can let a computer perform various calculations and make charts, e.g., invoices, receipts, statistics on the quantities of goods, sales charts and etc. On completion the students will be able to use Excel spreadsheets to perform basic calculations and make simple charts.
Content
  • Create a new spreadsheet
  • Enter text and numbers information into a cell
  • Edit the content of a cell
  • Save and open a spreadsheet
  • Perform addition, multiplication, subtraction and division
  • Calculate the sum and average of a range of cells
  • Format cells: font, size, color, bold, italic, alignment, border, background color
  • Copy, cut, paste and delete cells
  • Insert and delete rows or columns
  • Set column width and row height
  • Print preview
  • Print a spreadsheet
  • Create a simple bar chart
Assessment
  • The average score of assessment practice in the class must reach 60.
  • The average score of home assignment must reach 60.
Target audience Elderly people or people who rarely use computers but would like to learn to use spreadsheets. Only will be given to people aged 40 or above.
Prerequisite Basic operation of computer, such as keyboard and mouse. Or having attended Training Series for the Middle-Aged :Computer Operation & Word Processing create an e-learning account and then do the self-assessment to check.
