Title Connecting Networks
Course code CM456.4-11-2015-C
Objective The students will acquire the skills needed to configure their network, in order to access the Wide Area Network (WAN). The student would be eligible to apply for the CCNA 200-120 certification exam after all 4 modules are finished.
Content Semester 4 :
  • Understand and describe different WAN technologies and their benefits
  • Understand and describe the operations and benefits of virtual private networks (VPNs) and tunneling
  • Configure and troubleshoot serial connections
  • Configure and troubleshoot broadband connections
  • Configure and troubleshoot IPSec tunneling operations
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network operations using syslog, SNMP, and NetFlow
  • Design network architectures: Borderless networks, Data centers and virtualization, Collaboration technology and solutions
  • The students have to pass the full course (Pass all the assessments, with 80% attendance or above and pass the voucher exam at the end of the Semester 4) to get a discount voucher from Cisco for the CCNA certification exam.
  • We provide Cisco 18, 26 and 28 series routers, 29 series switches for students for doing lab.
Assessment
  • For each semester, the average score of online module assessment is >= 60 and the score of online semester exam & practical exam for each semester is >= 60.
Target audience
  • Those who would like to acquire the networking skills to enter the IT industry;
  • Those who would like to take the CCNA certification.
    Prerequisite
    • Able to read English materials.
    • This is one of the semesters for the whole CCNA curriculum. According to the regulations of Cisco Networking Academy, students have to study the CCNA in the order: 1, 2, 3 and 4. It cannot exceed half year between semesters.

    • Lecture: 27 hours in 9 sessions
    • Lab A: 13.5 hours in 9 sessions

    • Lab A: 19:00-20:30, from Nov 28, 2015 to Feb 13, 2016 every Saturday, excluding Dec 19, 2015(Saturday), Dec 26, 2015(Saturday), Feb 6, 2016(Saturday).
